This highly interactive four-day training, geared to educational
interpreters, will provide participants with a rich opportunity to focus on
skill development in a safe and supportive environment. Registration
is limited to allow individualized attention and skill development in ASL-
to-English and English-to-ASL.
In the ASL-to-English portion participants will review current linguistic
terms as well as having the opportunity to work with translation and
consecutive source material as strategies to work on their skills. In the
English-to-ASL portion participants will focus on the various features of
ASL including use of space, classifiers, and conceptual accuracy.
Instructors:
Lauri Metcalf, Chair of the American Sign Language and Interpreter
Training Department at San Antonio College.
Charles Trevino, Lead Faculty for the Interpreting Training Program at
Lone Star College – North Harris.
CEU’s: RID, KCDHH and MCDHH pending.
