Intense focus on using affixes in Signing Exact English. Broadening of
vocabulary through affixing, increasing fluency, and improving reception
in S.E.E.

Participants should possess at  least an intermediate level of S.E.E.
vocabulary. Participants will discuss, practice, and demonstrate the
appropriate use of affixes in S.E.E. Participants will demonstrate an
improvement in appropriate and fluent use of affixes in S.E.E., and
limited redundant or inappropriate affix use.        

**This workshop has been developed for ITP/IPP Students; State Level
Certification 1-3; EIPA level 3.0; ESSE level 3.

17 Years of the ADA: What Has It Gotten Us?

A professional development workshop for professionals who work with
Deaf
and/or hard of hearing people: This presentation will include
information about the American with Disabilities Act and its four
titles, and will cover its impact over the 17 years it has been in
effect.  Howard will focus on the rights of deaf and hard of hearing
people, particularly communication access. Discussion will also
include
the impact of the ADA on rehabilitation and mental health treatment.

Howard A. Rosenblum is a Senior Attorney at Equip for Equality, a
nonprofit organization designated as Illinois' Protection and Advocacy
entity. He represents people with disabilities in disability rights and
special education cases. Mr. Rosenblum successfully litigated an ADA
case guaranteeing communication access, including sign language
interpreters, within municipal jails to deaf and hard-of-hearing persons
in Hanson v. Sangamon County Sheriff's Department (C.D. Ill. 1998). He
previously worked ten years as an associate attorney with Monahan &
Cohen. Mr. Rosenblum co-founded and is the Chairperson of the
Midwest Center on Law and the Deaf, dedicated to ensuring equal
access to the legal system for deaf and hard-of-hearing people. Mr.
Rosenblum received his law degree from IIT Chicago-Kent College of
Law (1992), and his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer
Engineering from the University of Arizona (1988).
