INTERPRETER POSITION AT BLOOMSBURG UNIVERSITY
OF PENNSYLVANIA

Full Time 9-month Staff Interpreter Position (SUAII)
AA# 08-7-08
Job begins August 2007

Qualifications:
• RID Certification (CSC, CI, CT, NIC) or NAD IV, V, preferred
• Candidate for Certification required
• Registration under PA Act 57 required within one year of
employment
• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution required
• Fluency in ASL & English required
• Minimum two (2) years of professional interpreting experience
in diverse settings
• Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations
preferred

Responsibilities:
• Provide interpreting/transliterating services for students,
staff, faculty, & the university community within a flexible schedule
• 37.5 hours per week which include interpreting services,
office hours, & prep time (1 hour per class per week)

Salary:
• $1515.00 Bi-weekly
• Annual salary advances (steps)

Studies and Outreach

JOB #08085: DIRECTOR, Leadership Institute and Professional Studies,
salary range: $73,900 to $133,100.   Manages and develops a
comprehensive program of extended learning products in order to provide
quality and lifelong learning opportunities to a diverse student population;
has oversight of the provision of extended learning products designed to
meet the needs of traditional and non-traditional students for training
outside the regular, on-campus, residential degree programs; offers
degree credit courses, professional studies credit courses, workshops,
short courses, contract courses and other products designed to meet the
needs of traditional and non-traditional students for training outside the
regular, on-campus, residential degree programs, delivered through a
variety of modes, including on campus face-to-face classes, off-campus
contract classes, extension classes in cooperation with Gallaudet
University Regional Centers, on-line classes, and hybrid-format classes;
works in collaboration with the Dean, Professional Studies and Outreach,
to develop programs to address specific graduate education and
extended learning issues.

REQUIRES:  Doctoral degree and a minimum of five years experience in
higher education, teaching and/or administration/supervision.  Experience
in or knowledge of non-traditional, higher education program
administration.  Thorough knowledge of deafness and of the educational
needs and abilities of deaf and hard of hearing people.  Excellent
administrative, organizational and communication skills.  Experience with
budget management.  Excellent supervisory and interpersonal skills.  
Competency in academic and social  American Sign Language.

Outreach Programs
, salary range: $73,900 to $133,100.  Oversees
management and development of a comprehensive array of regional,
national and international programs and outreach, in order to provide
quality professional development and lifelong learning opportunities to a
diverse student population;  has oversight of regional and international
programs designed to meet the needs of traditional and non-traditional
students for education and training other than on-campus degree
programs; through established regional programs and international
outreach efforts, offers degree credit courses, professional studies credit
courses, workshops, short courses, contract courses and other products
delivered through a variety of modes, including off-campus contract
classes, extension classes in cooperation with Gallaudet University
Regional Centers, on-line classes, and hybrid-format classes; provides
leadership for creating collaborative relationships with schools and
programs through out the country and internationally; provides leadership
in the marketing of approved products; provides leadership and directs
the work of the Gallaudet University Regional Centers; manages the
budget for the unit and approves the expenditure of funds; supervises
regional center directors, outreach specialists and international program
development specialist.

REQUIRES: Doctoral degree and minimum five years of experience in
higher education, team teaching, project management,
administration/supervision.  Experience with and knowledge of non-
traditional higher education program programming and administration.  
Thorough knowledge of deafness and of the educational needs and
abilities of deaf and hard of hearing people.  Experience in design,
implementation, and evaluation of programs and workshops.  Excellent
supervisory, interpersonal, administrative, organizational and
communication skills.  Experience with budget management.  
Willingness to travel.  Competency in both academic and social American

Coordinator of the Missouri Interpreters Certification System (MICS)
Brief Description:  This is a professional position (exempt from the Fair
Labor Standards Act) responsible for developing, implementing,
maintaining, and coordinating the Missouri Interpreters Certification
System. This position requires a close working relationship with the
Board for Certification of Interpreters and the State Committee of
Interpreters (licensure). This position also is responsible for planning
and providing professional development workshops and training
sessions for interpreters, as well as workshops for a variety of
organizations and agencies regarding interpreter services, certification,
licensure, and the evaluation process. The position includes a full range
of administrative duties, and requires a high degree of independent
judgment and action on matters pertaining to interpreter evaluation,
certification, and training.

Qualifications:  Bachelor's degree in a field related to the study of
hearing loss, deafness, interpreting, public policy, human resources,
assessment, business
administration, or communication. Basic competency in either American
Sign Language or
some system of manually coded English. Two years of successful
experience in a program
management or coordination capacity.
