SLS Is Now Hiring:Full-Time Staff Video-Community
Interpreter (VI-CI)
Essential Functions:
* Provide on-site community interpreting services to consumers in the
areas of medical, legal, employment, education, etc. in the Greater
Kansas City area
* Provide video relay service interpreting and/or video remote interpreting
for consumers
* Function as a team member of a nationally recognized full-service
interpreting agency
Qualifications and Conditions of Employment:
* Kansas 4/4, Missouri Level Advanced or higher or equivalent, National
Interpreter Certification (NIC), RID CI-CT and/or equivalent required
* Must obtain Missouri interpreter’s license before hire
* Must achieve National Interpreter Certification (NIC) within 18 months of
hire
* Excellent working knowledge of and ability to apply the RID Code of
Professional Conduct
* Minimum Associate’s degree strongly preferred
* Excellent articulation and voicing skills
* Strong understanding of Deaf culture
* Familiarity with Windows-based software
* Ability to work well under pressure
* Sensitivity to consumer needs
* Ability to work independently and as a team
* Positive, professional attitude
* Experience with video interpreting preferred
