Olathe, Kansas: Bad News, Good News (Volunteer
Interpreting)
Bad News-KSD did not have enough students to form a middle school
football team this year. Good News-The students and cheerleaders will
be joining the JO CO Football club so they can still participate in Football
and Cheerleading. Bad News- They need interpreters for the games.
Good News- The practices are covered.
The games will begin in September, they will be either on Saturday or
Sunday. Some are covered but some are not. If you are able to donate
some of your time and talent by interpreting games for this worthwhile

The following full-time, benefit eligible position will be based out of our
Plymouth office:
Communication Access Outreach Training Specialist
The Communication Access Outreach Training Specialist - Deaf focus - is
responsible for delivering statewide trainings, workshops and
educational
exhibits as assigned by the Director on all related issues to
communication
access for deaf, hard of hearing and late deafened persons, with a
particular focus on Deafness from a linguistic and cultural perspective.
Candidates must be able to communicate independently via traditional
mail, e-mail, VRS and TRS (Telecommunications Relay services) with
consumers, professionals and members of the general public contacting
MCDHH to establish trainings or exhibits, or requesting information.
Candidate will, in conjunction with MCDHH's Information Specialist, seek
out and maintain a comprehensive list of applicable resource materials
in written and electronic form to allow for quick and accurate responses
to such inquiries and requests.

Sign Language Specialists Seeking Applicants for
Full-Time Staff Video-Community Interpreter (VI-CI)
Essential Functions:
• Provide on-site community interpreting services to consumers in
the areas of medical, legal, employment, education, etc. in the greater
Kansas City area
• Provide video relay service interpreting and/or video remote
interpreting for consumers
• Function as a team member of a nationally recognized full-service
interpreting agency
Qualifications and Conditions of Employment:
• Kansas 4/4, Missouri Level Advanced or higher or equivalent,
National Interpreter Certification (NIC), and/or RID CI-CT required
• Must achieve Missouri Level Comprehensive and obtain Missouri
license within six months of hire
• Must achieve National Interpreter Certification (NIC) within 18
months of hire
• Excellent working knowledge of and ability to apply the RID Code of
Professional Conduct
• Minimum Associate’s degree strongly preferred
• Excellent articulation and voicing skills
• Strong understanding of Deaf culture
• Familiarity with Windows-based software
• Ability to work well under pressure
• Sensitivity to consumer needs
• Ability to work independently and as a team
• Positive, professional attitude
• Experience with video interpreting preferred
