Kansas School for the Deaf has recently unveiled a collection of digitized historical photographs on the JoCoHistory.org website. Nearly 2,500 images document the history, people, facilities, culture and athletics of KSD from the 19th century to the present.

Call For Nominations
The following positions will be up for re-election during the annual business meeting that will take place at the KAI-RID conference which will be held at the Double Tree Hotel in Kansas City. Review the attached qualifications and position descriptions to determine if you are interested and eligible to serve in any of these positions. You may also refer to the bylaws posted on our organization's website for further detailed information. Please send all nominations to the bylaws committee at bylaws@kai-rid.org, deadline for submissions is January 31st. Thank you for your consideration to be involved in such an innovative and vibrant organization of unified sign language interpreters. (Taken from the Vision Statement of KAI-RID)
Executive Board:
1) Vice President
a. In the absence or disability of the president, the vice-president shall assume all duties of the president and in so acting, will have all the powers and responsibilities of the president.
b. Have other powers and perform other duties as prescribed by the Board.
c. Serve as a contact person for all committees.
2) Treasurer
a. Maintains the financial records of the organization, including:
i. Making regular financial reports to the membership; ii. Maintaining the financial accounts; and, iii. Making payments for authorized expenditures.
b. Supervises the budget planning/forecasting to allow a smooth, effective operation.
c. Upon request, provide the national office a copy of the organization's financial statement and the IRS 501(c)3 exempt reporting and documentation.
d. Prepares and submits annual financial records for review at the annual business meeting.
e. Performs other duties of the office as prescribed by the Board.
District Representatives:
1) District One
2) District Two
3) District Three
a. Shares and communicates information from the Executive Board to the membership and concerns and issues from the membership to the Executive Board.
b. Collaborates with registrant to ensure reciprocal communication channels to and from the Board, and to foster an environment in which all members, regardless of geographical location, are valued and recognized.
c. Coordinates at least two district meetings per year.
d. Provides a report to the membership at the annual business meeting.
Qualifications to serve on the Executive Board:
All nominees for the Executive Board must be Certified or Associate members in good standing of RID and members of KAI-RID for a minimum of one (1) year prior to running for any Executive Board office. Any uncontested candidate shall be elected by acclamation.
Qualifications to serve as a District Representative:
All nominees for representatives must be dual members in good standing of KAI-RID and RID for a minimum of one (1) year prior to running for the position. Any uncontested candidate shall be elected by acclamation.

KAI-RID Membership Gap Resolution
KAI-RID is moving . . . moving from a calendar year to a fiscal year, that is!
This presents a one-time issue for membership to tackle. According to the bylaws passed at the 2007 conference, our membership cycle now runs July 1 to June 30 every year.
That means we are going to run into a 6-month revenue gap in 2008 as we catch up to our new schedule.
